Bodycam video shows the officers pulling the three dogs out of the water and to safety. “Hey, come here, it’s okay, come here,” one of the officers can be heard saying in the video, which has been viewed more than 150,000 times on Facebook. “The dogs, who appeared tired and scared, were returned to dry land and received immediate care,” Manvel police wrote. “The dogs are now safe with their owners.”

After the incident, Manvel police are warning residents to be aware of the shooting. “We want to make sure everyone keeps an eye on their animals as this pond has a bulkhead and no bank,” police wrote.

In response to the rescue, residents expressed concerns about the safety of the pond. “Happy dogs. That’s a very poor design for a retention pond,” one person wrote. “That pond should have a bank, not a bulkhead, as many others have said. That shot is a setup for disaster for animals, children, someone who can’t swim and the elderly,” wrote another.

After reading the responses, Manvel Mayor Dan David – who shared the video on his Facebook page – also commented, saying improvements are being made to the retention pond to “ensure we care for all our Manvel animals to assure.”
