Nemzer announces 2024 women’s football roster

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland women’s soccer head coach Meghan Ryan Nemzer announced the 2024 schedule on Tuesday. Like previous seasons, the Terrapins will be tested against some of the best teams in the country as they face six teams that qualified for the NCAA tournament.

The Terps will play nine games at friendly Ludwig Field, highlighted by matches against Michigan State, Nebraska and Penn State. The Terps will also welcome two of the conference’s newest members, as Washington and Oregon come to College Park in 2024.

The Terps begin the season with some notable non-conference matchups. The Terps open the season Aug. 15 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa., will face Lehigh, as the two programs meet for only the second time, with the last game dating back to 2007.

Maryland then returns home for three home games, beginning with its home opener against Stony Brook on August 18 (1 p.m.). The Terps will next host American on August 22 (7 p.m.), as the two programs face off for the second straight season. The Terps close out their three-game homestand by hosting James Madison in College Park on August 25 (5 p.m.).

After their three-game home set, the Terps continue their non-conference schedule with three straight away games. The Terps first make a short trip to Annapolis to face Navy on August 29 (7 p.m.). The Terps will then open September with a meeting at George Mason on September 1 (6 p.m.). The Terps then close out their three-game road streak as they travel for a matchup against Towson on September 5 (6 p.m.). The Terps then close out the non-conference of their 2024 schedule by hosting VCU on September 8 (1 p.m.).

Maryland opens conference play at home by hosting Michigan at Ludwig Field on September 12 (7 p.m.). This marks the start of a three-game home streak to start the conference schedule. The Terps next welcome two of the Big Ten’s newest members to the West Coast, as they host Washington on September 19 (7 p.m.) before hosting Oregon on September 22 (1 p.m.).

After its three home games to begin Big Ten action, Maryland hits the road for three games. First, Maryland makes its way just outside the Windy City with a game at Northwestern on September 26. The Terrapins then remain in the Prairie State, as they head to Champaign to take on Illinois on September 29 (1 p.m.). Maryland then begins October with their final away game of the set, as they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State on October 4 (7 p.m.).

The Terps return home for their final two home conference games of the regular season, hosting Penn State for the first time on October 10 (7 p.m.). The Terps will then face Nebraska at home on October 13 (1 p.m.) for their final home game of the regular season. The Terps close out the 2024 season with three conference games away from Maryland. The Terps are on a two-game Midwest trip, with matchups against Minnesota on Oct. 17 (8 p.m.) and Wisconsin on Oct. 20 (1 p.m.). The Terps then return to the East Coast for their regular season finale with a road game against Rutgers on October 27 (1 p.m.).

The Terps are coming off a promising 2023 season. The Terps posted six shutouts last season, which was the most for the program since the 2014 season. Maryland won three straight games before the start of conference play last season, which was the first time since 2017 that he won three straight games before jumping into Big Ten play.
