Letter: Think carefully before you vote

At the Republican and Democratic national conventions, the parties are expected to select different presidential candidates. Nikki Haley and Dean Phillips ran in the primaries and would be good choices.

The behaviors of current candidates are as different as day and night. One of the candidates is a dedicated public servant and talks about bringing America together. The other candidate talks about being a victim of the justice system and getting retaliation against those he believes wronged him.

Congress has been unproductive. We elected our senators and House members to represent us, not a presidential candidate. What happened to America’s morals and ethics? The constant negative rhetoric toward our justice system, police, FBI, and others who protect America is troubling.

Just because someone says something repeatedly doesn’t mean it’s true. The January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol was not a peaceful protest but a riot that tore at the fabric of our democracy. Think carefully when you vote in November.
