Travel back to our country’s beginnings to meet one of its most extraordinary couples. The Barnegat Branch of the Ocean County Library will present American Historical Theater’s Peyton Dixon and Kim Hanley in “John and Abigail Adams: An American Love Story” on Saturday, June 29 at 11 a.m.

The program is sponsored by the Ocean County Library Foundation.

John Adams, the nation’s second president, aimed to do what he saw as right, whether it was defending British soldiers after the Boston Massacre or traveling abroad to find financial aid for the war of independence effort. Abigail Adams was John’s wife, best friend, and strongest supporter. She was educated, respected and just as outspoken as her husband.

Together, they sacrificed and fought for the ideal of the United States as a democracy, equal to all regardless of gender or race, values they instilled in their six children, including John Quincy Adams, who followed the presidential footsteps of his father.
