Clark County EMS computer crash sparks concern

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — Last week, a computer issue was reported in Clark County, affecting the county’s emergency dispatch services.

County dispatchers were forced to use radios to dispatch police and firefighters to the city of Springfield, as opposed to their usual computer dispatch systems.

City leaders say this has led to a delay in emergency response times.

At Tuesday’s city commission meeting, Mayor Rob Rue said the city could withhold next month’s payment that funds the combined 911 center until the concerns are addressed.

“We are also evaluating the possibility of withholding our next payment due in July by placing it in an escrow fund until our concerns are fully resolved to ensure first responders can perform their duties effectively and safely. Thank you,” Rue said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office operates the combined center and insists there were no delays in emergency response. The county says all computer systems are back online.
