Nearly 24 hours after his escape, authorities apprehended an inmate who escaped from a work release.

Around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Shawn Andrew Simien, 34, was arrested after jumping from an inmate transport van Tuesday, a spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
