Babysitter charged with manslaughter after 2-year-old child dies

RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – An investigation into the death of a 2-year-old girl found unconscious in a small body of water has led to one arrest.

On July 10, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was called to investigate a reported missing child. According to the news release, the sheriff’s office responded to the scene within six minutes of the call, while other emergency services responded to the scene.

After an extensive search of the area, the young girl was later found unconscious in a small body of water. Sheriff Stephen Stratton told WBKO that the girl was about six doors down from where she was seen on a nearby Ring doorbell camera.

In a news release, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office said its findings warranted a detailed grand jury interview.

On Nov. 1, the Logan County grand jury indicted Lindsey Dover of Russellville on charges related to the incident.

Dover was the 2-year-old child’s babysitter and reported her missing in July.

On Tuesday, Dover was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence.

She was taken to the Logan County Detention Center and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
