Comedy with a message about the repatriation of indigenous artifacts — Original Cin

Despite the serious material, the film is charming and very funny. Dennis plays indigenous archaeologist Steve Joe, a bit of a lost soul who feels tortured upon seeing his people’s sacred objects in a museum.

Worse yet, the items are about to be shipped on loan to Europe. With the help of some friends, Steve decides that stealing the artifacts from the Royal Western Canadian Museum and replacing them with fakes is the best solution for everyone involved.

Until the items are in their proper place, Steve believes that the ancestors cannot rest and will continue to create problems for him and the rest of the Moquahat Nation.

Unfortunately, to carry out his project, he must get involved with Russian gangsters.

The group responsible for the theft includes Graham Greene, Ashley Callingbull, Taylor Kinequon, Craig Lauzon and Andrea Menard. Also in the cast is Cowichan cultural archaeologist and filmmaker Harold Joe, who is also producer and co-writer of The Great Salish Heist.
