SC seeks answers from Centre, NTA as petitions to cancel NEET-UG 2024 exam gain momentum

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday sought answers from the Centre, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and others on petitions seeking cancellation of NEET-UG 2024 and a court-monitored probe into alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination.

A vacation bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti also sought responses from the parties on separate pleas filed by the NTA seeking transfer of certain pending petitions from the high courts to the apex court.

The court posted these pleas for hearing on July 8.

Petition filed by 20 students

One of the petitions, filed by 20 students who appeared for the medical entrance exam, also sought directions to the NTA and others to conduct the exam again.

While hearing separate pleas regarding the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (Undergraduate) 2024, the apex court had on June 18 said that even if there was “0.001 per cent negligence” on the part of anyone in the conduct of the examination, it should be addressed in depth.

NTA conducts the pre-medical entrance test all over India.
