A 23-year-old Ocala man, wanted on multiple felony warrants, now faces additional charges after being arrested in possession of counterfeit $100 bills and cocaine during a traffic stop .

On Saturday, June 15, a corporal and a deputy from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a Kia SUV for a tint violation. The corporal noted in the arrest report that a man with two active arrest warrants, identified as Jacaree Juan Nelson, was driving the vehicle.

After the SUV stopped, Nelon got out of the driver’s side and walked toward the corporal and deputy. He was taken into custody without incident, according to the report.

During a pat-down search of Nelson, the corporal allegedly found 30 counterfeit $100 bills in Nelson’s left pocket. The report said the notes were smaller than real currency, their texture was different, and there was a blue security strip on the notes to try to make them look real.

The interior of Nelson’s SUV was also searched. A deputy found a white rock-like substance inside a cigar wrapper that was between the passenger seat and center console, and the substance field tested positive for cocaine.

A computer search of Nelson revealed that his driver’s license had been suspended indefinitely in 2022. He also had active warrants for his arrest in connection with a separate battery case (second or subsequent offense) and a probation violation.

No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office regarding the battery case.

Nelson was arrested and transported to Marion County, where he is currently being held on $15,000 bail. He is charged with possession of 10 or more counterfeit bills, possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license, as well as two counts of battery (second or subsequent offense) and three counts of violation of probation.

A court date is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
