New Delhi (India), June 20 (ANI): Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Thursday slammed the Center for cancellation of NET exam and irregularities surrounding NEET-UG exam and said Prime Minister Modi had failed the Indian youth and still remains silent.
Speaking to ANI, Gogoi said, “Prime Minister Modi has failed the youth of India. First, with the NEET exam, 24,00,000 people were disappointed, and now, with the NET exam, 9,00,000 students have been betrayed. Yet the Prime Minister chooses to be silent.”
Criticizing the government for its positions regarding the exam, Gogoi questioned the ruling government and said, “I don’t know why this government is taking two different positions. Regarding NET exam, they are ready to cancel and reschedule. Why can’t they do it? they do the same thing with NEET? During NET exam, they feel that paper leak has occurred. Why, when it comes to NEET, is the Education Minister (Dharmendra Pradhan) clearly giving a clean chit to the National Testing Agency? try to bury the problem. »
He added, “Rahul Gandhi and the Congress will not let them go. Tomorrow the Congress party will hold a nationwide protest on this issue. Rahul Gandhi will raise the issue of NEET students in the House.”
Notably, the Ministry of Education on Wednesday canceled the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) exam conducted by the NTA on June 18.

A new review will be carried out, for which information will be shared separately.
On June 19, 2024, the UGC received certain inputs from the National Cybercrime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs during the review. These elements indicate prima facie that the integrity of the above-mentioned review may have been compromised.
Amid controversy over the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam, the Education Ministry said the test was scrapped because its integrity may have been compromised and stressed that it would not hesitate to take action against anyone.
On the other hand, the NEET-UG 2024 exam was held on May 5 and the results were announced on June 4, ahead of the scheduled date of June 14 announcement. Protests took place, denouncing irregularities and paper leaks, with results showing as many as 67 students passed the exam with a perfect score of 720.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), paves the way for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. (ANI)
