UGC-NET Scrutiny Line: CBI registers case against ‘unknown persons’ after cancellation on integrity grounds

On June 19, 2024, the UGC received information from the National Cyber ​​Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a complaint on Thursday against “unknown persons” for having compromised the integrity of the UGC-NET examination carried out on June 18. The case was registered under sections 120B and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

This followed a complaint from the Secretary of the Ministry of Education. The University Grants Commission (UGC) on June 19 received information from the National Cybercrime Threat Analysis Unit of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C), the unit under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Union and indicated that the UGC NET 2024 exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), may have been compromised. The exam was conducted on June 18 in two shifts in different cities of India.

In response, the Ministry of Education canceled the UGC-NET exam held on June 18. An official press release from the ministry states that this decision was taken to ensure the highest level of transparency and integrity in the review process.
