Rep caught pouring water into colleague’s bag

This GOP representative is causing a sensation on social media…

A Republican lawmaker was caught pouring water into a Democratic colleague’s bag for MONTHS.

Representative Jim Carroll (Democrat) of Vermont noticed that his bag was soaked after several days of work. He told the Associated Press that the issue began going weekly starting in January.

In March, Carroll placed a cheap spy camera in the hallway outside his committee room. He caught Rep. Mary Ann Morrissey (right) throwing cups of water into her tote bag, not once but multiple times! Carroll showed the footage to the Speaker of the House who approached Morrissey.

Morrissey apologized on the House floor to his colleagues earlier this week.

“I am truly ashamed of my actions. I have sincerely apologized to Jim directly and publicly and will work toward resolution and recovery through our legislative process. It was conduct very unworthy of my position as a representative and a human being and does not reflect my 28 years of service and courtesy.

Rep. Carroll said he released the footage to the media to facilitate accountability…

“I have been very reluctant to release the video because I believe it would deeply embarrass Rep. Morrissey. However, it has become clear to me that the media is aware of the details of Rep. Morrissey’s behavior and will likely continue to report on it for the foreseeable future.

He says that after five months of his peer hosing his bag, “It was torment, there’s no doubt about it.”

Was this an incredibly juvenile decision on Rep. Morrissey’s part? Absolutely. Was it tortuous for Rep. Carroll? This seems a bit excessive…. Whichever way you look at it, we all remember that politicians on both sides can be equally petty.
