Samabula residents frustrated over neglected road repairs, FRA remains silent on timeline

Following concerns raised by Samabula residents about the poor condition of the roads and the still good roads being dug up, the Fiji Roads Authority said all road works have been scheduled and will proceed as planned.

On Tuesday morning, fijivillage News assessed the condition of Ono, Bureta, Nayau streets and at the junction of Ono and Lakeba streets.

These streets have multiple potholes where the pothole at the Nayau Street junction even has grass growing in it.

Gravel can also be seen scattered on the roads.

A trench was dug in Rue Bureta and it has been filled with gravel for weeks.

Some residents claim that Bureta Street was perfectly fine, but was dug up for no apparent reason.

The road is said to have been repaired last year.

The FRA did not respond to questions about when the roads will be repaired.
