Gardai shocked after finding car using vice grip and plastic clips for brakes

Gardai in Letterkenny were shocked after discovering the braking system of a seized car was held in place by vice grips and plastic clips.

The car was one of several seized in Letterkenny last night.

Gardai said the braking system was “incredibly dangerous”.

A spokesperson added: “This makeshift braking system was discovered when Gardaí inspected a vehicle in Letterkenny this evening.

“The vehicle in question was one of those seized because it was dangerous and defective.”

The driver of the car will appear in court.

Gardaí say they will be carrying out checkpoints and vehicle inspections throughout the weekend.

“Don’t put lives in danger on the roads. Make responsible decisions regarding road safety,” the spokesperson added.
