(WGHP) — Hot, humid conditions will smother the Piedmont this weekend

Saturday will be mostly sunny, warm and muggy with highs in the 90s. Our heat index will be in the mid to upper 90s.

Sunday we will see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. We will have a warm start with temperatures in the lower 70s. Sunday highs will be in the 90s. We have a feeling temperatures will be around 100 degrees. On Saturday and Sunday, slow down and take plenty of breaks in the shade if you’re working or playing outside. Don’t forget to stay hydrated this weekend.

We will keep an eye on a weak cold front that will approach the Piedmont Sunday evening. The front could be strong enough to trigger a few isolated thunderstorms Sunday evening.

Our best chance of rain will be Sunday night into Monday morning, with lows in the 70s to possibly mid 70s. Behind the cold front, our weather won’t be as muggy but still warm with highs in the 90s. On Monday there will also be a slight risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.

On Tuesday, our humidity will continue to drop, but temperatures will remain warm with lows around 70 degrees and highs in the 90s.

We will feel an increase in heat and humidity on Wednesday with highs in the mid 90s. We have a feeling temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s. On Wednesday there will also be a slight risk of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

A stronger cold front will bring us a good chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms Thursday. Our highs will be in the upper 80s. The chance of rain is 50%.

Friday will be partly cloudy with mostly sunny skies and lows in the upper 60s and highs in the upper 80s.
