Jennifer Lawrence Directs Murder Mystery Inspired by ‘Real Housewives’

Jennifer Lawrence already has many highlights in her career, including winning the Academy Award for Best Actress. There’s one more thing the 33-year-old can add to the list: starring in a film inspired by her beloved. Real Housewives franchise.

Apple Original Films announced Friday that the Silver Linings Playbook the actress will produce and star in a murder mystery titled The wives. Other producers include Justine Ciarrocchi, Josh Godfrey and Jeremy O. Harris, who posted on X that the project is “the culmination of nearly 7 years of work.”

Although plot details have not yet been revealed, the film will be written by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, who wrote and starred in the acclaimed stage production, This American wife.

Lawrence has been open about her interest in reality TV for years, particularly the women who populate Bravo’s socialite-based shows in locations from New York to Atlanta to Miami and beyond.

She praised her obsession in October 2014. Vanity Fair history.

“I like my Real Housewives“, she said. “New York Housewivesand Beverly Hills, New Jersey and Atlanta Housewives. I mean, I love them all, but Miami – oh, my God! Miami is truly special.”

Lawrence’s love of reality TV was still going strong in December 2017, when Oprah Winfrey interviewed her for The Hollywood Reporter and asked her which three people, living or dead, she would like to have dinner with. She replied: “Scott Disick (from keeping up with the Kardashians), Luann (de Lesseps) of The Real Housewives of New YorkBethenny Frankel (also formerly of RHONY). And I’m not proud of it, but it’s what comes from my heart.”

Fortunately, Watch what’s happening live host and Housewives Producer Andy Cohen made part of Lawrence’s wish come true in March 2018, when he threw her a surprise dinner, with de Lesseps and Frankel as guests, on an episode of his show.
