Jamal Musiala continued his torrid start to the 2024 European Championship, scoring his second goal of the competition in Germany’s 2-0 win over Hungary. But judging by his celebration, fans would have thought he had made a long-range 3-pointer in the NBA.

After opening the scoring in the 22nd minute of Wednesday’s game, Musiala performed the “3 to the dome” gesture, a celebration that former star forward Carmelo Anthony made his own during his 19-year NBA career.

When asked where the inspiration behind the celebration came from, Musiala revealed that he imitated Anthony’s signature move, telling BILD: “It came from basketball. From Carmelo (Anthony).”

Interestingly enough, Anthony was not the original mastermind behind the “3 at the Dome” celebration. The creator of the gesture was actually Rasheed Wallace, who played alongside the future Hall of Famer for the New York Knicks.

According to The Athletic, Anthony and Wallace were exchanging trash talk during practice during the 2012-13 season when the latter began to catch fire behind the arc. In an attempt to get into his opponent’s head, Wallace repeatedly hit his now famous celebration saying, “It’s 3 for the dome.”

Soon after, Anthony adopted the celebration as his own, regularly making the gesture after many of the 1,731 3-pointers he made during his career. Despite seemingly stealing the celebration from Wallace, former Knicks star Iman Shumpert claimed there was no bad blood between the two men.
