Liverpool stunned as £60m target agrees SHOCK Bayern transfer

Michael Olise has opted to join Bayern Munich, according to reports, and the move will come as a blow to many Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

With a £60m buyout clause in his contract at Crystal Palace and a strong end to the 2023/24 campaign, the winger was always going to be one to watch during the summer transfer window as many clubs have been linked to his signature.

At one point it looked like Liverpool were in a good position to sign Olise following their qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League, although all noise this week was that the exciting winger was staying in London and joining Chelsea in place.

However, on Friday evening, via The Athletic, news arrived that Olise had opted to move to Germany and link up with Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Kinglsey Coman at Bayern Munich as Bundesliga giants, under the direction of new manager Vincent. Kompany, aims to regain its crown against Bayer Leverkusen.

Furthermore, the report states that Bayern are now expected to agree a deal with Palace for the 22-year-old to end speculation over his future this summer.

Olise Alternatives for Liverpool

In truth, while Olise would have been a great addition to this Liverpool squad and ideally Mohamed Salah’s long-term replacement, the chances of him moving to Anfield this summer never seemed realistic. So while the decision to pick Bayern may have surprised some, it’s not a deal that should worry fans too much.

That said, if the Reds are looking to bolster their options this summer, they will need to look for alternatives now. Fortunately, a number of names have already been linked, including West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus and Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko is another name, although according to Eindhovens Dagblad, Liverpool may be forced to wait until mid-July to pursue a potential €50m (£42m) transfer then that the winger is focused on representing Belgium at Euro 2024 in Germany.
