BHU to offer three new scholarships

Varanasi: Banaras Hindu University is instituting three new scholarships, one each for the Faculty of Education, Central Hindu Boys School and Central Hindu Girls School. The university received a donation to create these scholarships, as part of its Pratidana initiative. According to BHU spokesperson Rajesh Singh, Rahul Srivastava, a Mumbai-based business executive, made the donation in honor of his maternal grandmother Bindhyachal Devi, paternal grandfather Madan Mohan Prasad and of his paternal aunt Bimla Srivastava. His father LP Srivastava retired from the Central Public Works Department as Additional Director General after decades of contribution to numerous projects and later worked as an Advisor (Works) at IIT-Gandhinagar for over a decade . Srivastava recently visited BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain and expressed his family’s admiration towards BHU and the role it plays not only in the field of education, but also in the training of good citizens. The VC acknowledged the kind gesture and generosity of Srivastava and expressed gratitude for the contribution made by his family. Bindhyachal Devi Scholarship (Rs 25,000 per annum) will be established for the Faculty of Education and will be awarded to a first year student of Lit. Special education. The Madan Mohan Prasad Scholarship (Rs. 5,000 pa) will be offered to a Class 10 student of the Central Hindu Boys School, while the Bimla Srivastava Scholarship (Rs. 5,000 pa) is for a Class 10 student of the Central Hindu Boys School.
