Charles Leclerc in X-rated rant against Lando Norris filmed live on Sky Sports as he escapes shock collision punishment

CHARLES LECLERC sparked controversy when he collided with Lando Norris and launched an X-rated rant live on Sky Sports.

But the Ferrari ace escaped punishment after stewards reviewed the dramatic incident during final practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Viewers were shocked to see and hear the incident when Charles Leclerc passed Lando Norris before backing inside and verbally lashing out.

Leclerc seemed to think Brit Norris – who won pole for Sunday’s race – was unfairly holding him back on the Barcelona track.

Finally, the Monegasque driver overtook the 24-year-old McLaren entering turns 7/8.

But Leclerc sharply reduced the inside running line – appearing to cut Norris’ rearview mirror quite clearly.

The 26-year-old was then heard saying: “Fuck. I don’t understand why they did that.”

This is believed to be his verdict on the tactics of Norris and his team.

The commissioners watched replays of the exchange – before “reprimanding” Leclerc but WITHOUT giving him a penalty on the grid.

Their statement read: “The stewards heard from the driver of car 16 (Charles Leclerc), the driver of car 4 (Lando Norris), team representatives and reviewed video, team radio evidence and embedded video.

“The driver of car 16 said he was obstructed by car 4 in turn 5 and it upset him.

“He then had to abort his flying lap and claimed that while trying to leave the racing line before Turn 7, he misjudged his car’s position and made light contact with Car 4.

“Regardless of any possible intention, the stewards consider the movement made by car 16, although not dangerous, to be erratic and therefore issue a driving reprimand consistent with precedent.”

But fans on social media seemed to think Leclerc got off lightly.

One asked: “Immediate ban on weekends. Absolutely shameful. »

Another posted: “I have no idea what Leclerc did. No excuses.”

Lando then added salt to Leclerc’s wounds by taking pole away from F1 world champion and current leader Max Verstappen.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton outperformed his Mercedes teammate George Russell for only the second time this year, taking third and fourth places.
