Bruce Brown shares message about X ahead of NBA free agency

Bruce Brown knows his time with the Toronto Raptors could soon be over.

This week, the Toronto Raptors will have to make a decision on Brown’s $23 million team option for next season.

Toronto will have until June 28 to choose or decline the option, so a decision will likely be made during the NBA Draft.

Brown spoke to X on June 21 to share a message ahead of NBA free agency:

According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, the Raptors should pick up Brown’s team option and then consider trading Brown right after. The Raptors attempted to trade Brown at last season’s trade deadline and were looking for a first-round pick, but were unable to reach a deal.

If the Raptors decline Brown’s option, then Toronto will be able to free up cap space to enter free agency. If they let Brown and Trent Jr go, the Raptors can create just under $30 in cap space. This would give the Raptors enough space to go after some role players.

The Raptors received Brown from the Indiana Pacers as part of the Pascal Siakam trade. Once the Raptors acquired Brown, it was expected that the 27-year-old would not be part of Toronto’s long-term plans.

Brown played a key role for the Denver Nuggets during their championship run and unfortunately, he didn’t look the same this season, especially with Toronto as a knee injury kept him out.

Brown averaged 10.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 32.3 percent shooting from three last season.

It will be interesting to see how this whole situation develops.

Former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse says Kyle Lowry is the greatest Raptor of all time

Draymond Green asked former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse who was the greatest Toronto Raptors player of all time during the Draymond Green Show.

“Kyle Lowry,” Nurse said without hesitation.
