Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Announces Life-Changing Decision Ahead of New Contract, 2024 Season

Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Announces Life-Changing Decision Ahead of New Contract, 2024 Season

On Sunday afternoon, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love announced that he had made a life-changing decision this offseason. Love headed into the NFL dead period with plenty to gain before the 2024 season begins in September.

Love wants a contract extension with the Packers before September. As previously reported on GH, earlier this offseason it was believed that Love would make nearly $50 million per year from his upcoming deal. Love didn’t want to talk much about his contract during OTAs this spring, but he wouldn’t rule out holding out this season if he doesn’t sign a contract extension:

Love was peppered with questions about his contract situation during his media appearance at Packers OTA on Tuesday. Love said he didn’t want to talk much about his contract. Love did not commit to playing the upcoming season when asked by a reporter if he would play for the Packers this fall if a new extension was not signed.

“We’ll see. I don’t know yet. We’ll see,” Love said.

Love being at voluntary OTAs this month is a good sign he will play this season. However, things could change if his agent sees little progress with the Packers front office before the start of mandatory OTAs or training camp.

A difference of nearly $38 million is at stake for Love if he doesn’t sign another extension. That’s a lot of money to risk for a violent sport where several of his fellow quarterbacks suffered serious injuries last season.

Trevor Lawrence’s recent contract extension changes the discussion around Love. Lawrence is expected to earn $55 million per year. Love could command a similar salary after nearly taking the Packers to the NFC championship game in January.

Love is expected to sign a contract after Sunday, but it is unclear when he will do so.

Love took care of a personal matter

Love and the Packers should be in contention for a Super Bowl appearance next February. The next few months will be critical for the Packers and Love. Despite all the NFL’s mounting pressure on Love, the quarterback is taking time during the league’s off-season (between OTAs and training camp) to take care of his personal matters.

According to Love’s Instagram account, Love announced that he is now engaged to Ronika Stone.

“First step towards eternity,” Love wrote.
