Nebraska football appears to be bolstering depth in suddenly crowded RB room

Did the Nebraska football Does the team add another running back to its 2024 class? There is some debate as to whether this officially happened on Sunday afternoon. However, Should Mekhi Nelson run to actually be a commitment to the Huskers, it appears EJ Barthel and company have found another body to fill out a room that just keeps getting better.

What we know is that Nelson does not deny his commitment on social networks. And at least a recruitment site already lists him as a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The problem is that not all websites agree on whether to advertise this apparent commitment.

Sunda drama when On3 scored an engagement for Nelson. However, as of this writing, he has yet to announce that he has chosen a school. This led at least one analyst from another site, Rivals’ Tim Verghese, to call out On3 without calling them by name.

“Engagement announcements are unique opportunities for these young men. » Verghese wrote on Twitter. “We will always respect a player’s schedule and wishes so as not to take anything away from that moment, we prefer to be precise and ethical rather than ‘first'”

It’s worth noting that the analyst appears to take issue with the timing of the change made by On3. Not that that’s inaccurate.

For his part, Nelson just told Husker fans to follow him on social media while posting photos of himself in an NU uniform.

If the Connecticut returner was officially a Husker, he would be reclassified to the 2024 class. That means the 3-star recruit could join NU immediately and begin training as soon as fall camp begins on July 31.

It would also mean that the Nebraska football team suddenly finds itself in a bind at running back. The Huskers brought Donte Dowdell through the portal due to the thinness of the post this winter. Now it looks like there will be an honest battle for playing time this season.
