New York Giants: Kayvon Thibodeaux reveals frankly humiliating message from Lawrence Taylor

New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux is coming off another remarkable campaign, one that the 23-year-old is extremely proud of. Thibodeaux, however, was recently given a harsh reality check by none other than Giants icon Lawrence Taylor.

Speaking Thursday A night with legends event, Thibodeaux opened up about a backstage conversation he had with Taylor. The young linebacker was brought back to earth by a simple message from the Hall of Famer:

“I mean, LT (Lawrence Taylor) there, man. Just him, Michael Strahan, Carl Banks, Osi Umenyiora,” Thibodeaux said on stage (with NFL.com’s Bobby Kownac). “When you have a guy like LT, right, we just traded back and forth and he said, ‘Man, how many sacks did you have last year?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I was 11.5.’ Very good.’ He said to me: “What did you play three games?

“When you have these shoes to fill, you have no choice but to be great. I have the best guys to look up to, and now I just keep setting goals and achieving them.

Taylor clearly spoke with love and he had no intention of belittling Thiboeaux’s efforts. The statement clearly derived the desired outcome for Thibodeaux, who took inspiration from what he saw as a challenge from the Giants legend.

As he said, Thibodeaux has some pretty big shoes to fill. It’s just great to know that he is not backing down from this enormous challenge.
