Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer has died, family announces

CHICAGO (WLS) — Cook County Commissioner Dennis Deer died Sunday evening, his family said.

Deer represented the county’s second district.

In a statement, the family said: “Dr. Deer’s passionate dedication throughout his life made him a tireless servant of the community in the areas of health care, education, economic development, employment and training, reintegration and affordable housing.

“Dr. Deer’s greatest joy and pride was his family. He cherished his role as husband to his high school sweetheart Barbara Deer and father to his twins Kaleb and Kanaan and daughter Trinity.”

No details were given on the cause of death, but the family said they would release more soon.
