Barcelona striker informs dressing room he wants to leave – report

The future of Barcelona youngster Marc Guiu has been the subject of much discussion in recent days as interest grows from Europe’s top clubs.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea were those who showed interest in signing him and it now appears that the latter could be very well placed to secure the services of the 18-year-old.

With Guiu’s contract expiring in 2025 and containing a €6 million release clause, the Blues appear ready to trigger the clause and sign him.

Barcelona, for their part, have tried to renew Guiu’s contract, but negotiations have moved quite slowly and no deal is in sight.

Guiu hints at release

Now, however, it appears that Guiu is very likely to leave this summer and in fact, last night’s promotion playoff final between Barça Atletic and Cordoba could end up being his last for the club.

According to SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti, Guiu has not informed Barcelona of his departure, but sources in the Barça Atletic dressing room admit that the teenager has expressed internally his desire to move on.

The 18-year-old striker is very tempted to accept Chelsea’s offer and is considering his future while the Catalan club is still waiting for a response regarding the renewal offer.

Having recently renewed a host of young players like Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado, Barcelona also made efforts to extend Guiu’s contract.

However, Barça’s proposal convinced neither the player’s family nor his representatives, who at the same time moved towards a possible transfer by paying the termination clause of 6 million euros.

Guiu seeks guarantees

To continue at Barca, Guiu wants to have certain guarantees that he will indeed be a first-team player – which cannot be guaranteed due to the presence of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Vitor Roque.

For their part, Barça let him know that they were counting on him in the medium term, especially given the age of Lewandowski and the probable departure on loan of Roque.

However, having Lewandowski and Ferran in front of him does not convince the 18-year-old striker, who is keen to play every week.

In addition, Barça cannot promise anything to the striker on a sporting level because it will be Hansi Flick who will decide.

On the other hand, Chelsea’s contract proposal is considerably higher than that of Barcelona, who have made efforts to keep the striker, but cannot come close to the figures offered by the English team.

Thus, sources in the Barça Atletic locker room now admit that Guiu has let slip his desire to move on if Barça does not convince him.
