Man faces drug and firearm charges after allegedly found in possession of suspected heroin and 9mm handgun following traffic stop near community by Caball.
Wilburn Madon, 41, of Harlan, was arrested June 14 by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release, at approximately 11 p.m. on June 13, Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy CJ Reed conducted a traffic stop near the community of Caball following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation. drugs in the Elcomb area. Harlan County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Lewis responded to the scene to assist with a search of the vehicle. Officers located several bags of suspected heroin during the search. Three additional bags of suspected heroin were found in a container that had been thrown from the vehicle during the traffic stop. A baggie containing several suspected prescription pills was also found in the container, along with a 9mm handgun and a baggie of suspected methamphetamine. Scales, bags and other drug trafficking paraphernalia were also found.
Madon was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin), first degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second degree trafficking in a controlled substance (unspecified drug), persistent criminal possession of firearm and tampering with physical evidence. He was booked into the Harlan County Detention Center on $3,500 cash bail.
In other police activities:
• Charles Clem, 33, of Cawood, was arrested by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office on June 15. He was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Clem was booked into the Harlan County Detention Center on two cash bonds totaling $6,500;
• Pete Rowe, 50, of Evarts, was arrested June 15 by the Town of Evarts Police Department. He was charged with first-degree burglary. Rowe was lodged at the Harlan County Detention Center on $6,000 cash bail;
• Courtney Lewis, 29, of Coxton, was arrested June 17 by the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with theft by unlawful taking (less than $10,000), public drunkenness, third-degree terroristic threatening and resisting arrest. Lewis was booked into the Harlan County Detention Center on $1,000 cash bail.
