Head Coach Robbe Tarver Announces New 2024 Men’s Soccer Class

EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Evansville men’s soccer team announces its next class for the fall 2024 season.

Head coach Robbe Tarver’s Class of 2024 includes 10 new Purple Ace student-athletes. The new class includes seven incoming freshmen and three transfers.

“We are delighted with the arrival of the group!” Tarver said. “We have a mix of guys who will make an immediate impact on the field. And we have guys who can push our starters and then become key players. We believe these people can improve our program on and off the field and we help compete in the Missouri Valley Conference.”

Amo joins Evansville after two years at the collegiate level. In goal, Amo led Casper CC to the 2023 NJCAA Division I National Tournament, after winning the conference and district championships. In addition to leading Casper to the state tournament, Amo was named first team all-region for his efforts. Amo spent his youth career playing for Burgos FC at their youth club.

“Hugo brings experience competing at a high JUCO level and winning games while being a leader at Casper,” says Tarver. “We look forward to seeing him compete this fall.”


Amo is the son of Oscar Amo and Ana Marta Riaño and has two brothers. Amo chose UE because of its ability to combine soccer while earning a degree. He will major in business while in Evansville.

Håkon Smedsrud Edstrøm · Midfielder · Baerum, Norway · NTG
Edstrøm comes to the EU from Norway after a youth career at Asker. After a successful youth career, Edstrøm joined Asker’s first team, where he played 27 matches for the second division and third division first team in Norway.


“Håkon has a lot of attributes that translate to college football,” Tarver says. “He is good in the air, able to be physical in tackles and shows good passing range.”


Son of Brit and Finn Ole… 3 siblings… chose EU because of its high level football and good academics which match his career ambitions… Business major undecided.

Nacho Garcia · Defender · Zaragoza, Spain · UNITE
Garcia comes to River City from Zaragoza, Spain after a youth career at Villareal. Garcia recently competed with Huesca II, the same club that Ace, Jose Vivas, played for from 2019 to 2021.


“Nacho is mature and experienced coming to Evansville,” Tarver said. “His versatility will help us use him in multiple ways, while he brings presence and maturity to our backline.”

Sean Hendrie · Midfielder · Summit, New Jersey · HS Summit
Hendrie joins the Purple Aces after spending a gap year in Valencia, Spain with the Eture Gap Year programme. A New Jersey native, Sean was a 2x First Team All-State, Northeast All-Region and Union County Player of the Year en route to the 2021 Group III state title with Summit HS.


“Sean is a fiery offensive player who has a knack for creating scoring chances,” Tarver said. “We love his winning streak and what that experience will bring to our program.”


Hendrie is the son of Karen and Frank and has 3 siblings. Hendrie chose the EU because he can continue his academic and football career at the highest level.



Connor Johnson Signature Graphic

Conner Johnson · G.K. · Owensboro, Kentucky · Daviess County HS
Johnson comes from across the Ohio River to Evansville after spending his youth career at Bowling Green FC and Daviess County HS. Johnson was named Owensboro Sports Co-Player of the Year and 2sd All-State team for Daviess County in 2023 as the Panthers advanced to the KHSAA quarterfinals. In his final season, Johnson was also named to the All-Tournament Team, the Owensboro Sports All-County Team. With Bowling Green FC, Johnson was a three-time state champion, most recently in June 2024.


“Conner has many of the characteristics of a top goalie,” Tarver says. “He has also been a leader for successful high school and club teams. We are excited to watch him develop as a Purple Ace.”


Johnson is the son of Angela and Jeremiah Johnson and has one sister. Johnson chose UE because of the connection he has with the team and coaching staff.

Michel Mroz · G.K. · Elk Grove, IL · Elk Grove HS
Mroz comes to Evansville from FC United in MLS Next, a youth team well known for producing quality goalkeepers. At FC United, Mroz played under former Aces assistant Toney Anderson, as well as GK guru and Toney’s father, Stan Anderson. Mroz helped FC United reach the MLS Next Flex tournament and the playoffs in 2024.


“Michal is mature beyond his years in goal,” says Tarver. “He has a knack for making big saves in 1v1 situations. We’re excited to see him come in and compete with our older GKs.”


Mroz is the son of Magdalena and Krzysztof and has three brothers – Krystztof, Patryk and Jakub. He chose to attend UE because of the small class sizes and the program’s mutual benefit to him as a player. At UE, Mroz will major in business.

Sami Owusu · Attacker · Denver, Colorado · University of Dayton
Owusu comes to Evansville as a graduate transfer after stints at Dayton, Cal State Fullerton and Salt Lake CC. At Salt Lake CC, Owusu was a teammate of current Ace, Kai Phillip, where together they won the 2020 NJCAA Division I title. During the 2020 run, Owusu was also named Player of the Year First Team All-American and NJCAA Region. At Fullerton and Dayton, Owusu played in 32 games with 13 starts, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist. He also helped Dayton win an A10 championship and an NCAA appearance in 2023.


“Sami has offensive skills that you can’t teach and he always scored big goals,” Tarver says of the graduate transfer. “We hope to further unlock his potential here during the 2024 season.”


Owusu is the son of Victor Owusu and Mary Appiah. He chose UE because the staff made him feel comfortable and his relationships with current players on the team like Kai Phillip. Owusu will earn his graduate degree in leadership in Evansville.

After spending time with Indiana Fire South and North HS, Seaton stayed in his hometown of Evansville and joined the Purple Aces. During his time at North HS, Seaton was appointed to the 2sd Team All-State, Academic All-State and Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to his state accolades, Seaton earned the most wins (26) and clean sheets (19) in North HS history.


“Brady is a Purple Ace,” Tarver says. “He showed up in big moments for both North and Fire. We’re excited to add his passion for UE to our program this fall.”


Seaton is the son of Christopher Seaton and Misty Murty and has two siblings. Seaton chose UE because of PT’s excellent program and the fact that he grew up an Aces fan as his mother graduated from UE. Seaton will major in exercise science (pre-PT) at Evansville.

Peyton Williams · Attacker · Dallas, TX · DeSoto HS
Williams joins UE after some time in the ECNL with DKSC ​​in Dallas. Willaims also played in the MLS Next Development League with the Dallas Hornets. With DKSC, Williams led the team to the ECNL playoffs and the Dallas Cup Finals. With the Hornets, Williams was part of a bid for the MLS Next Flex. With DeSoto HS, Williams was named district and all-region player of the year as a sophomore.


“Peyton can create for himself and for his teammates. He shows an eye for the final pass, but also the courage to defend and compete at the top.”


Son of Damien and LaStassia… has 2 brothers and 2 sisters… chose Evansville because of the family atmosphere with the staff and players… Business major.



Martin Wurschmidt signature graphic

Martin Würschmidt · Defender · Fram, Norway · Thor Heyerdahl TBV
Wurschmidt comes to River City from Fram, Norway, where he played for Fram Larvik in the Norwegian third division. He represented Fram Lavrik in the youth ranks and recently played with the senior team in the Post-North League. Wurschmidt made 14 appearances with 1 goal for the senior team. In 2022, Wurschmidt helped the team gain promotion to Norway’s second division and in 2023 he was named the division’s young player of the year.


“Martin has fantastic abilities in the air and can cover the ground defensively,” says Tarver. “We like his maturity and his ability to play from behind.”


Wurschmidt is the son of Øyvind & Lene and has a brother and a sister. He chose UE because of the academic and soccer opportunities offered at the university.
