Police chase ends in fatal crash in Campbell County, THP investigates

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office said a chase ended in a fatal crash Wednesday afternoon.

CCSO said officers attempted to pull over a car in the Valley View community on Wednesday around 1:20 p.m., but the driver, identified by Tennessee Highway Patrol as 25-year-old Cassie Miller, did not stop and fled from police.

Miller then led officers on a chase that ended in a crash on Howard Road in LaFollette around 1:40 p.m., when she attempted to round a curve but ran off the road and struck a tree, according to a preliminary report from THP.

Troopers said Miller was fatally injured. A passenger, a 55-year-old man, was also injured in the accident.

Additional information, including what led officers to initiate a traffic stop, has not been released.

THP is investigating the crash.
