Video shows how quickly a distracted driver caused a nine-car pileup

It only took one distracted driver to cause a nine-car pileup on one Oklahoma State Highway Dashcam footage can be seen this week.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the dashcam video was from a semi involved in the crash near Oklahoma City.

The video clip shows a white pickup truck driving into the semi to avoid hitting a car in front of the truck. The truck was unable to stop in time to avoid an accident. The pickup eventually hit the car in front of it and then crashed into the passenger side of the semi. The steering wheel was ripped off the semi, causing it to crash into other cars.

“The white pickup hits the SUV in the front and then swerves, hitting the semi and ripping off the passenger side wheel of the semi, leaving the semi driver without steering,” the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said fortunately, only two people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It could have been worse, they warned.

“We need drivers to pay attention and look at the road while driving,” they said.
