A man shocked by lightning in Marengo

MARENGO, Ill. (WIFR) – A man is recovering after he said he was struck by lightning Tuesday morning in Marengo.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on June 25, the Marengo Fire and Rescue District responded to Nichols Farm and Orchard in the 2600 block of Hawthorn Road for a man complaining of injuries caused by an apparent lightning strike .

First responders say he was evaluated and taken to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford with minor to moderate injuries.

The Marengo Fire and Rescue District believes a lightning strike struck a tree and knocked the man to the ground.
