Married carer, 62, found dead near Oswestry country house after being missing for almost three months

Anthony Roberts, 62 years old, was last seen in Chirk on July 5 this year. His body was found near Halston Hall in Whittington, Oswestry on September 25 this year.

Mr Roberts, a married man who was a carer, was the subject of much public scrutiny Police appealed after he went missing.

An inquest into his death at Shropshire Coroner’s Court in Shrewsbury heard on Wednesday that Mr Roberts, who lived in Princess Avenue, Chirk, was pronounced dead at the scene after his body was found. Police were satisfied with his identity after finding his driver’s license and other documentation on his person.

John Ellery, senior coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, adjourned the inquest until February 6 next year.
