Bengaluru: Woman accuses 10-year-old of sexual abuse after he groped her in public, incident caught on camera

Bangalore: A social media influencer has shared a harrowing incident where she was sexually assaulted by a ten-year-old boy while returning to her home from work in Bengaluru. The video is making the rounds on the internet and causing numerous reactions on social media.

The woman also said that many bystanders chose to empathize with the boy and asked her to spare him because he was a “child and must have done that unintentionally.”

“People didn’t believe me until I showed them the video. The incident was recorded and that’s why people supported me. Imagine how many similar incidents must have happened to people and gone unreported,” said influencer girl Neha Biswal in the video. Karnataka Portfolio also shared on X.

The video starts with the social media influencer sharing her experiences. According to the post, the girl was walking down the street when a boy on a bicycle approached her and greeted her with “hello.” Seconds after teasing her, the boy approached her and touched her inappropriately before fleeing.

The woman also shared the video, which gave a glimpse of the incident where the woman was inappropriately touched by a person. However, the camera failed to capture the person’s face.

The incident was reported to the police, who identified the boy; further research is being done, Hindustani times reported.

Several social media users came out in support of the girl and called out the lack of safety for women even in cities like Bengaluru. The social media post also attracted comments about the ‘North-South’ divide, with many even calling the girl a ‘drama queen’.

“If the same thing happened in Delhi, I wonder if you would feel the same way,” a social media user commented on the post. “Absolutely disgusting KANNDA BEHAVIOR (sic).” ‘I can’t trust Northies. Why she is sharing her ordeal on social media, wants to defame the name of Bengaluru, she can easily file a complaint… (sic).”

Claiming that such incidents are common in Bengaluru, another social media user wrote, “Hey, this always happens in black and white. Come to JP Nagar. Men on bicycles slap/slap women on their butts. Chain snatching is common in JP Nagar phase 1. It’s not a new problem. Blr is unsafe after 9pm. It is not Chennai or Mumbai (SIC).”

“I don’t trust this influencer drama… she uses filters even when she cries…,” said another user.

“What’s worse is that locals in comments justify the act, claiming it is fake and bringing up the language angle. I am a Kannadiga myself and I am ashamed to see such perverts hiding in plain sight and behaving chauvinistically. It’s a sorry state (SIC),” wrote yet another.
