James Hoye to be umpire for 2024 MLB All-Star Game

NEW YORK — James Hoye will be the home plate umpire and crew chief for the All-Star Game on July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Hoye was the left field umpire for the 2015 All-Star Game in Cincinnati. The 53-year-old made his major league debut in 2003 and appeared in the World Series in 2019 and 2022.

His team includes Bruce Dreckman at first, John Tumpane at second, Nic Lentz at third, Ben May in left and Texas resident Nestor Ceja in right, Major League Baseball said Tuesday. Dreckman will be in his second All-Star Game and the rest of the team will be in their first.

Rob Drake will be the replay umpire at the MLB office in New York.

Oakland manager Mark Kotsay will be on Texas manager Bruce Bochy’s AL team and Cincinnati manager David Bell will be on Arizona manager Torey Lovullo’s NL team.
