Delhi Confidential | Owaisi’s “Palestine” slogan removed; Biplab Kumar Deb calls out Congress’s ‘hypocrisy’ | Delhi Confidential News

His slogan during the swearing-in erased from the House records, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi told reporters outside Parliament that he had saluted Palestine. BJP members had protested against Owaisi’s slogan, but party MP and former Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb had a different complaint against him. When he took the podium to take the oath of office, Deb greeted all the newly elected MPs. Some opposition MPs protested the move and called on the presidency to order Deb to respect only her oath. Later, the BJP leader pointed out that Congress MLAs remained silent when Owaisi raised slogans. He said he now plans to “call out the hypocrisy” of Congress in Parliament.

An attempt by a lawyer to seek a new date in a case by invoking the Bar President upset a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices AS Oka and Rajesh Bindal on Tuesday. As the bench dictated its order, the lawyer asked it to set a new date, saying the president would argue the matter. Visibly annoyed, Judge Oka asked if he had the impression that the court would be dissuaded by his argument that the president will argue? The judge said that when he was a member of the Bar, he was told that one should study the judge before making a statement. Justice Bindal questioned whether the lawyer was threatening the judiciary. The court ultimately rejected the plea.

After taking oath as a member of the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) leader Chandrashekhar Azad first shook hands with Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, who was seated at the front row with other members of the opposition. The exchange of greetings between the two leaders is significant as Azad had earlier wanted to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Nagina seat in alliance with the INDIA bloc, but the SP had rejected his request. He then contested alone and defeated candidates from SP, BJP and BSP. His efforts for an alliance with the SP also failed in the 2022 UP Assembly elections. Azad had then accused Akhilesh of “insulting” him and “sidelining” the Scheduled Castes.
