Sam Dickinson

Big, heavy, talented two-way defenders don’t exactly grow on trees. That’s what you get with Sam Dickinson, who scored 70 points in 68 games in the OHL this season – at 6’3” and over 200 pounds.

He’s a jack of all trades, with high-end skating, a big shot and the ability to move the puck. The concern I have here is: has his production been inflated by being part of an incredibly strong London team?

There are times when I question his decision-making and wonder about his hockey IQ. If you think these traits can be fixed, Dickinson is an easy top-10 pick in this draft. He could one day be among the elite.

Why they should take it: He has all the tools to become a top-four defenseman in the NHL.

Why they should avoid it: Does he have the toolbox to put everything together?
