Traveling distances 2024/25 – English Championship

At TSZ we have put together a list of all travel distances for the 2024/25 English Championship season.

Distances were determined using the shortest driving route on Google Maps at the time of writing. The mileage shown is the round trip from a team’s home stadium to the opponent’s home stadium, and vice-versa, for all away matches in the Championship campaign. This is strictly a “by road” analysis; other means of transport (e.g. train) are not taken into account.

TOTAL DISTANCES

  • Once again, Plymouth supporters face the longest total league match mileage of any team in English football this season, with their travel totaling almost 11,000 miles over the course of the campaign.
  • For comparison, supporters of Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke, Sheffield United, West Brom, Coventry and Derby who travel to each away Championship match will travel less than half of this total distance.

WHAT IS THE LONGEST TRIP OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The only road trip in the championship that will require more than 800 miles will be when Plymouth meet Sunderland (812 miles round trip).
  • The longest journey from Birmingham (Plymouth) is exactly half that journey (203 miles).

WHAT IS THE SHORTEST TRIP OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP?

  • The matches between Steel City’s rivals Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday are the shortest in the Championship this season, with just four miles separating the stadiums by road (eight in either direction).
  • The shortest away day for Plymouth fans in the league this season is still 242 miles (round trip to Bristol City’s stadium).
