‘I’m tired of this team’ ‘Please no’ United fans shocked as club plot for £40m-rated striker

Manchester United own stake in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, claims I News.

Newcastle are in talks with the Toffees to sign the 27-year-old, but they have been put off by his £40m asking price.

I NewsHowever, claim that Erik ten Hag’s side and AC Milan are still evaluating offers for Calvert-Lewin. Given the striker’s poor recent form and his sad injury record, X fans are very much against a move by the player:

United keen to compete with Hojlund

With Anthony Martial set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the month, Ten Hag will have Rasmus Hojlund as the only true number 9 in their squad.

A new striker is therefore a top priority for the summer transfer window, but the club must be careful not to bring in someone who could stunt Hojlund’s growth.

As an older, more experienced player, Calvert-Lewin could provide a decent option off the bench, but there’s no way United are paying £40m for him.

Are other attackers being targeted?

The club is known to follow Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna but, despite reports suggesting they are willing to pay the Dutchman’s £34m release clause, no formal offer has been tabled so far.

A cheaper alternative, mentioned in recent days, is Jonathan David from Lille. The Canadian is in the final year of his contract and he could cost as little as £21 million. However, there is expected to be competition for his signature from Chelsea, West Ham and Spurs.
