WASHINGTON, (DC News Now) – On Wednesday, the first day of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) 2024 Summit in Washington, DC, the company announced plans to donate $1 million to three children’s hospitals, including Children’s National in DC.

The donation is part of a $10 million commitment from Amazon to “empower” nonprofits to use the AWS cloud to advance pediatric causes, according to Amazon.

Amazon said the funds would help provide access to crucial research and support the growing number of hospitals using artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.

This commitment also includes the AWS Imagine: Children’s Health Innovation Award, which will fund the use of AWS cloud technologies to advance projects in pediatric research, child well-being, and healthcare workers.

The two other hospitals that will receive donations are Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia/Children’s Brain Tumor Network in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
