Homa Bay: 10 teachers caught leaking KCSE exams to pay KSh2 million bail each

Homa Bay – Ten teachers from Pala Masogo Secondary School, including a center manager and invigilators, were formally present accused of leaking the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.

Teachers found to have leaked exams have been released on KSh 2 million bail.

When they appeared before Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Auka, the suspects denied three charges of malpractice in the investigation.

When will the matter be brought up?

The teachers were arrested after allegedly photocopying the 2024 KCSE Chemistry paper. They were each granted bail of KSh 2 million or an alternative cash bail of KSh 1 million.

“I direct that each accused person may be released on bail of KSh 2 million each and a surety bond of a similar amount or cash bail of KSh 1 million with one contact person each. I direct that a summons be issued to the investigating officer to address the matters raised by the defense regarding the arrest of the suspects,” the magistrate said.

Magistrate Auka has scheduled the case to be heard on November 20, when a date for their preliminary trial will be set.

Homa Bay Sub-County Deputy Commissioner Emmanuel Kiplagat assured that authorities would take necessary measures to address the incident and ensure accountability.

In other news, a Siaka Secondary School student was left heartbroken afterward learning that she was missing from the examination register.

Rebecca Nasimiyu’s father revealed that he had submitted all the necessary documents for the registration process.

The incident came to light when Nasimiyu’s father learned that his daughter was being held outside the school gates while her classmates were preparing for their exams.
