Fatal truck accident M6: Lancashire motorway partially reopened

A highway has partially reopened after a fatal crash in which a truck overturned, struck the median before veering into the opposite lane and hitting the back of a car.

The M6 ​​was closed in both directions between junction 33 at Lancaster and junction 32 at Preston after the crash at around 11:20 GMT on Wednesday.

National Highways said that while two lanes of the northbound carriageway had reopened at about 04:00 GMT, the outer lane would remain closed while repairs were completed.

Drivers heading south have been warned of diversions and delays.

No information has yet been released about the person who died in the crash.

Police said Wednesday that several other people had been seriously injured.

It is not yet known how many injured there are, and what the nature and severity of their injuries are.
