According to Reddit user @Agitated-Variety-732, he bought new air conditioners thinking it would save him money, but that wasn’t the case. He added that he has four air conditioners in his home, at least two of which were running at the same time.

Many Reddit users have shared similar experiences, with bills ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 14,000 with one or two air conditioners at home. Others have pointed out that people are shocked electricity bills because they don’t know how to use air conditioners correctly.

“Unfortunately, a lot of people use their air conditioners this way. I changed my habits a few years ago and noticed a difference of around ₹600 out of a total bill of ₹3,000,” added another .

“I have 3 air conditioners and other appliances. We only use the air conditioner at night for around 7 hours every night, and my electricity bill was ₹5,000 even after using 3 separate meters,” a said another user.

Free Electricity in Delhi

It is worth noting that the Delhi government already provides 200 units of free electricity to every household. Earlier this year, the government announced that under the Delhi Solar Policy 2023, even those who consume more than 400 units of electricity would see their bill reduced to zero if they get solar panels installed.
