The accused had planned to get caught, according to police; another was arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: One more person has been arrested in connection with the murder of businessman Deepu Soman in Kaliyikkavilai. Premachandran, a friend of the main accused Sunil, has been apprehended. The police have concluded that Sunil and Premachandran had brought another prime suspect, Ambili, to Kaliyikavillai. It is suspected that Ambili committed the murder on their instructions.

Ambili, who is a history scholar, has made contradictory statements. According to investigators, he has a knack for guessing questions and preparing the answers. He even planned to be arrested shortly after the murder.

Ambili confessed to the crime but offered different reasons for the murder from the beginning. On Monday night at 11:45 pm, the Tamil Nadu police found Deepu’s body, with his throat slit, on the driver’s seat of a car at Kaliyikkavilai, near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. Deepu operated a crushing unit in Malayam, Thiruvananthapuram. According to his family’s statements, he had left for Coimbatore with Rs 10 lakh to buy equipment, including an earthmoving machine, for a new crushing plant venture.
