“For the young people watching, it’s okay to feel sad and disappointed, but please know that it will be okay,” she said. “During the campaign I often said, ‘If we fight, we win.’ But the thing is, sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn’t mean we won’t win.

“The most important thing is that you never give up. Never stop trying to make the world a better place. You have the power. And never listen when someone tells you something is impossible because it has never been done before.”

Although she didn’t mention Trump by name, Eilish made her feelings about the election results clear when she wrote in a post on Wednesday Instagram Story post: “It’s a war on women.”

Per The TennesseanEilish spoke about the election results halfway through her show.

“When I woke up this morning, I couldn’t actually imagine doing a show on this day,” she tells the audience. “But the more the day went on, I kind of felt like it’s such a privilege that I get to do this with you and that we have this at a time when… I just love you so much and I want that you do.” Know that you are safe with me and that you are protected here and that you are safe in this room.”

Introducing her 2021 song “Your Power,” the musician continued, “The song we’re going to do is a song that my brother Finneas and I wrote.

“It’s about the abuse that exists in this world against women and a lot of the experiences that I’ve gone through and that people I know have gone through. And to tell you the truth, I’ve never met a single woman who doesn’t. I have no story of abuse.”

Eilish explained that the song addresses some of her personal experiences, saying, “I’ve been taken advantage of. And I’ve been…my boundaries have been crossed, to put it politely.”

“A person who has been convicted… uh, so many things… let’s say a convicted predator, let’s say someone who hates women so deeply is about to become president of the United States of America,” said them against concertgoers.

“And so this song is for all the women out there. I love you, I support you.”

Trump’s lawsuits, lawsuits

Writer E. Jean Carroll won two lawsuits against Trump over her claim that he raped her in a New York City department store in the 1990s. He was found liable for defamation and sexual abuse and ordered to pay Carroll a total of $88.3 million. Trump denies Carroll’s claim and has since appealed.

While Trump was found civilly liable for sexually assaulting Carroll rather than raping her, Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled ruled that the rape claim was “substantially true,” while Trump’s 2023 defamation lawsuit against Carroll was dismissed.

Trump’s appeal of the Carroll lawsuits is still pending. In September, the former president and Carroll both attended a hearing in New York City on a possible retrial, although the future of the case remains uncertain.

The return of the newly elected president may have little impact on the case as it is a civil rather than a criminal matter. A 1997 Supreme Court The ruling showed that lawsuits against sitting presidents can proceed if they do not involve actions the president took while in office.

However, Trump’s two pending criminal cases — election subversion crimes in Georgia and at the federal level — will almost certainly be dismissed or at least set aside due to his election victory, since sitting presidents cannot legally be prosecuted under the law.

Trump is unlikely to be able to overturn his unrelated 34 felony convictions for falsifying corporate records in New York, as presidents do not have the power to pardon themselves or anyone else for state crimes. He will be sentenced later this month.
