Former Baroka coach loses unfair ‘dismissal’ case against club

A case of unfair “dismissal” of a coach who recently parted ways with Baroka FC has been dismissed with costs by the PSL DRC.

FARPoste established that Bushy Moloi took the club to PSL DC after parting ways with them in April 2023 when he resigned.

At that time, Moloi, who was the head coach, was given a different role within the club. He joined the club on a two-year contract, which was due to expire in June 2024.

He was later replaced by Stanford Nkoane as head coach, leading to his resignation. These developments prompted Moloi, who is now head coach of Pretoria Callies, to take the matter to PSL DRC and demand compensation.

However, in a judgment delivered this week, Moloi’s case was dismissed with costs. Moloi is currently the head coach of Motsepe Foundation Championship club Pretoria Callies. He helped the club avoid relegation at the end of last season.

WHO WILL BE IN CHARGE OF THE MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CHAMPIONSHIP NEXT SEASON?

Meanwhile, Baroka FC are yet to release an update on the future of interim coach Morgan Mammila as well as suspended coach Dan Malesela. Malesela’s contract ends this month.

The club has launched an investigation into what it considers misconduct but has not charged the 59-year-old. Malesela is unlikely to be retained by the club.

It has been reported that the club intends to continue with Mammila for the upcoming season. Mammila was CEO when Baroka were promoted to the elite league in 2015/16. He was recently tasked with helping the club gain promotion via the promotion playoffs, but was unsuccessful.

According to local reports, Baroka will not be looking for a new coach and have tasked Mammila with returning to the DStv Premiership.
