Liverpool consider Giorgi Mamardashvili to replace Alisson

Liverpool are reportedly considering signing Giorgi Mamardashvili as a potential replacement for Alisson Becker this summer.

According to Radio Marca, Liverpool are considering bringing in Giorgi Mamardashvili to replace Alisson Becker. The Brazil international could leave the club, the report suggests, as the Valencia player could be an important replacement for Liverpool.

Giorgi Mamardashvili to replace Alisson Becker?

Alisson Becker is rightly considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He has been a huge presence for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. Early suggestions were that the goalkeeper was part of the small but influential group looking to leave the club, although nothing appears clear on the keeper’s position.

He reportedly rejected a move to Al-Nassr and seemed happy with life on Merseyside, which will no doubt please Liverpool fans. The club also said they did not want to sell the Brazilian, who, in theory, could fetch a large sum if moved to Saudi Arabia.

While rumours of a possible exit had been quiet for some time, Liverpool have now been linked with a move for Georgian hero Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Valencia stopper is reportedly being considered a viable replacement for Alisson, which could spark further speculation over the Brazilian’s immediate future at Anfield.

If Alisson leaves Liverpool, there is hardly a better goalkeeper than Mamardashvili to fill that role. He has a big future ahead of him and could be seen as a big investment by Liverpool, as they did with Alisson many years ago. Whether this story will have further advancements remains to be seen, but it’s an interesting choice for a replacement.

Newcastle United also interested in Mamardashvili

If Liverpool do enter the race for Mamardashvili, Newcastle United could feel threatened by the prospect of losing one of their top targets. The Magpies have been linked with a move for the Valencia keeper and could pull some strings in their quest to sign the 23-year-old Georgian.

The problem could be the money involved in a deal to bring in the goalkeeper, as Valencia are demanding quite a high fee to sell the 23-year-old. If Liverpool manage to sell Alisson, they will indeed have the funds to reinvest in a new goalkeeper, and Mamardashvili could make sense.
