A man is seriously injured in North Station Road following a robbery in Colchester

Officers will remain at the scene in Colchester throughout Thursday, Essex Police said

Two people have been arrested after a man was seriously injured in a robbery.

Essex Police said the incident happened at 21:35 GMT on Wednesday in Middleborough, Colchester.

Officers found an injured man, whose jacket was reportedly stolen, and took him to hospital.

A 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody for questioning, police said.

Police are calling on anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police

Det Insp Tim Coyles said police would maintain a presence in North Station Road as investigations continued.

Witnesses or people with camera images were asked to contact the police.
