Dirac and Bluesound Partner to Make Dirac Live Ready Devices

The integration will bring Dirac room correction capabilities to select Bluesound devices with the purchase of a microphone accessory kit and license

Swedish digital audio pioneer Dirac and Bluesound, makers of high-fidelity multi-room streaming devices, have announced a collaboration to integrate Dirac’s award-winning Dirac Live Room Correction solution into select Bluesound devices.

According to Fredric Tapper, Vice President of Dirac Home & Pro Audio, this first collaboration with Bluesound represents an important milestone for the company as it continues to strengthen its position as the industry’s leading provider of digital room correction technologies – both in the high-performance home theater end market and now in the multiroom wireless streaming market.

“Consumers’ home listening habits are changing. While dedicated listening rooms were once the norm, the entire home is now the listening space: the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, basements, etc. », explains Fredric. “However, this expanded definition of listening space has created new challenges in terms of high-fidelity audio reproduction, as outdoor spaces with dynamic room sizes and dimensions can have a significant impact on the quality of the her. This first-of-its-kind collaboration with Bluesound solves these challenges by delivering high-fidelity sound in any room or listening space, no matter how complex. »

Powered by patented technologies, Dirac Live is one of the most powerful room correction solutions on the market. The system automatically solves common acoustic problems that all home audio systems face, but that hardware alone can’t solve – or requires too much time, expertise or money.

Its creators claim that the software is unique in that it corrects both the amplitude and phase of the entire audio system, including the room itself, resulting in a more transparent and balanced sound, tighter bass, improved staging and increased clarity.

“At Bluesound, we fundamentally believe that consumers shouldn’t have to sacrifice audio quality for streaming – and that multi-room audio streaming shouldn’t come at the expense of high-fidelity sound reproduction,” said Matt Simmonds, Chief Product Officer at Bluesound. “High fidelity is deeply ingrained in our DNA, which is why we’re so excited to partner with Dirac, a company that shares our commitment to audio innovation and the pursuit of perfect sound. These Dirac-enabled Bluesound devices will set new standards for performance in the Wi-Fi-based multi-room audio streaming market.”

Future Bluesound devices will be ready to handle Dirac Live once a Dirac Live license has been purchased through the Dirac website. Backwards compatibility with existing Bluesound devices is also being explored and rollout plans for eligible models will be shared at a later date. A calibration kit will be made available for sale on the Bluesound.com website when the first activated Bluesound player becomes available.
