An earthy and organically inspired Ibiza wedding

Séli and Matthias were teenagers in 2013 when he struck up a conversation with her in the hallway of their school. “We were 13 and 15,” Séli says. “I was holding a pack of gum and he just asked if he could have a piece. A few months later, after a few nice dates, we were officially a couple and, exactly 10 years later, we got married!”

Matthias chose the couple’s favorite place, Ibiza, for his proposal. During their annual summer vacation in 2020, he and Séli went for a sunset stroll in Es Vedra. “It’s a big magical rock in the sea, and rumor has it that it’s the third most magnetic point in the world and has long been believed to be the source of Ibiza’s inexplicable energy,” explains Séli. “There are a few well-known and popular viewpoints on the rock, but we know of one where there is almost no one there. And that’s how it happened: there were white rose petals, a big bouquet of flowers, a bottle of champagne, a photographer hiding in the bushes, and after the proposal, three of my best friends arrived, who had traveled to Ibiza for this moment and had planned everything with Matthias. »

Ibiza also proved to be a natural choice for the couple’s wedding weekend. “It was important for us to be able to do everything outdoors and show our guests what we love so much about Ibiza,” explains Séli. The couple spent 36 months planning their 45-guest wedding scheduled for June 17, 2023, including two years researching venues. “Of all the places we visited, Fincadelica Ibiza was the very last one and we immediately fell in love,” says Séli. “A beautiful green oasis in the typical style of an Ibiza finca. Modern, yet rustic and relaxed, but with a particular eye for interior design and unique features – a very important point, as I am an interior designer! »

A color palette inspired by sand and stone, along with hundreds of lush white hydrangeas, created a calm, neutral atmosphere, while thoughtful choices about what to include (a tossed bouquet, a dress code white required) and what to exclude (a wedding cake, a first dance) resulted in a unique and memorable day for the newlyweds and their guests. “With Lucette and Kiki from House of Luce, we worked on our dream wedding for over three years,” explains Séli. “Without them, we would not have been able to achieve it the way we wanted. Everything went perfectly on the big day thanks to their perfectionism and their expertise in the field. » Check out all the careful details below in Danilo & Sharon’s images.

The luxurious, oasis-like atmosphere of the couple’s venue set the tone for their overall aesthetic, which they describe as “going with the flow and authentic barefoot luxury.” An earthy, organic color palette of beige, white and brown created contrast in the couple’s paper suite, designed by the bride.

Séli took a “less is more” approach to her hair and makeup. “I wanted my total look to be as timeless as possible, so that when I’m 50 and looking at photos, I’ll still be true to all my choices!” she says.

The bride’s effortless beauty look complemented her satin A-line gown by Milla Nova. “Since our wedding theme included the color white, I wanted my dress to be statement-making but not overly frilly,” she says. “I only tried on three dresses in total and the one I ended up choosing was the first one I tried on.” The full skirt was balanced by a high slit and strapless bodice, which fit the destination’s summer vibe. Séli’s only accessories were her engagement ring, Carat Antwerp wedding band, and a pair of gold Francesco Russo heels.

The couple requested an all-white dress code for their guests, with the bride’s friends wearing a chic collection of white dresses in varying lengths, silhouettes and fabrics.

Matthias chose a tailored beige suit from Suit Supply, dark brown loafers, and a contrasting pocket square. Séli and Matthias added the same finishing touch: Christian Dior Ambre Nuit perfume. “Matthias and I always wear the same perfume,” Séli says. “So since we both used this perfume together on our wedding day, it now has an even more special meaning!”

Séli’s design work extends from the invitations and logo to the fabric welcome sign and reception menus. “Fincadelica has a beautiful garden with many hidden treasures,” she says. “The whole wedding day was planned as a sort of tour through the entire venue, with each event taking place in a different location, so guests were surprised each time. »

The outdoor ceremony space featured a plush sofa for the bride and groom and natural bamboo folding chairs for the guests. Hundreds of white hydrangeas, one of the bride’s favorite flowers, were draped around the sofa and used to accent the aisle. “Since the venue is already such a beautiful place in itself, we didn’t want to add too much,” says Séli. “It was important to maintain the serenity of Ibiza’s peaceful nature, and especially not block the beautiful view we had as the backdrop for our ceremony.”

Matthias and Séli wrote their own vows, which they exchanged during the family ceremony. “Matthias and I both had our little brothers as witnesses. They both gave very personal speeches during the ceremony, which made the ceremony even more special,” Séli says. Another special guest sat in the front row: “[One of our favorite memories was]having our six-month-old daughter Amelia with us on our special day,” Séli says. “Matthias walked down the aisle with her.” After using music by Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi for their procession, the newlyweds chose an unexpected recessional: “Gold Digger” by Kanye West.

At the poolside aperitif, guests enjoyed cava sangria, “a slightly special variation of the typical Spanish sangria,” Séli explains. The bride also performed the traditional bouquet toss, sending her bouquet of long-stemmed white roses to a group of friends.

“We did so many things differently than most typical weddings: we didn’t have a wedding cake, we didn’t do a first look, and we didn’t have a first dance simply because we didn’t want to, but we did “Allow our guests to wear white,” says Séli. “Stay true to yourself as a couple and don’t let typical or traditional wedding things get in the way. Anything goes. Make your own decisions!”

Guests were seated at a single, long table, covered with white tablecloths and accented with a sand-colored gauze table runner and napkins. “This created a beautiful effect of movement in the wind,” explains Séli. “Using handmade ceramics with pronounced edges added a playful touch to the table, but the white hydrangeas caught the eye. We used a few large pieces, which created a look that was both playful and modern, and we added a classic string of small bulbs above the long table for a soft, romantic effect. »

The Ibiza chef has created an unforgettable dining experience, including shared Spanish antipasti as a starter. “As we wanted to introduce our guests to Ibiza, we had large pans of paella prepared live,” explains Séli.

After dinner, the couple and their guests headed inside, where a DJ was waiting to kick off the after-party. “I wore a short lace dress by For Love and Lemons, and Matthias wore a white silk blouse with beige pants printed with the Gucci logo,” Séli says. (Guests wore shirts bearing the couple’s custom logo throughout the weekend.) The celebration went from early in the morning to a 4:30 a.m. splash in the pool.

“There is nothing we love more than sharing our love and joy with the people we love,” says Séli. “We have dinners at Christmas, we have barbecues in the summer and we just love spending time with our closest friends and family. And for our wedding weekend, we wanted to do exactly the same: share our love for Ibiza with them.
